Lincoln Electric Becomes Official Sponsor of the PBR

PBR image
Lincoln Electric is proud to announce its new partnership with The Professional Bull Riders, Inc. (PBR) in which Lincoln becomes one of the sports newest official sponsors.

"We are proud to announce our partnership with the PBR and the exciting sport of bull riding," said Mickey Holmes, Sports Marketing Manager for Lincoln Electric. "The sport will provide a dynamic marketing platform to build our brand as well as opportunities to entertain and build relationships with our valued customers. It is a natural fit when the toughest welders in the world are aligned with the toughest sport on earth."

PBR has over 1,200 bull riders competing in more than 300 PBR sanctioned competitions in the United States, Australia, Brazil, Canada, and Mexico. Over 100 million viewers tune in each year to the PBR on television in the United States, and ratings are steadily on the rise. PBR has seen strong growth in live event attendance as well, attracting over 1.5 million each year.

"Lincoln products are second to none and we could not be more pleased to partner with such a great brand," commented PBR Chief Marketing and Sales Officer, Kevin Camper. "We are excited to have them as a partner and look forward to an exciting future with them!"

Farm Progress Burns Some Wire with the
POWER MIG® 216
POWER MIG® 216 image

Dan Crummett of Farm Progress tested the
POWER MIG® 216 on some home projects this past December.

He had great things to say about the 216 after using it to build a boat dolly, a steel-frame picnic table and add a 1/2-inch rebar loop to the hitch on his garden tractor.

New Polarity / Multi-Process Switch and Docking Kit

Switch image
If you change polarity and processes often while welding with your engine driven welder, the new Polarity /
Multi-Process Switch is the "must have" accessory for you.

Once installed, polarity changes are accomplished with a simple change on the accessory.  For process changes, users need only change the setting on the accessory and the welding mode on the engine driven welder.

Easy Polarity Switching

Here is one example of polarity change: DC- stick welding for root pass on pipe, then DC+ stick welding for the hot, fill and cap passes.

Easy Process Change

Here is another example, this time illustrating a process change: DC+ stick welding for root pass on pipe, then DC- Innershield® self-shielded flux-cored wire welding for the hot, fill and cap passes.

Docking Kit

Also new is a stainless steel Docking Kit which secures the Polarity / Multi-Process Switch to the roof of the engine-driven welder.

The Polarity / Multi-Process Switch and Docking Kit can be used on the following engine driven welders:

Ranger® 250 and 250 LPG
Ranger® 305 G and 305 D
Vantage® 300, 400 and 500

How I Did It: Grasshopper
From: Amos Cline of Orono, Maine

Grasshopper image

Here's my design and embodiment of a holding device I first used when I attended Lincoln Electric's Advanced Motorsports Welding School. The instructors called it a "Third Hand" or "Helping Hand"; I call it a "Grasshopper."

The device is simple in concept: a heavy chunk of solid metal positioned such that its weight is applied to the tip for the purpose of holding small objects for welding. It is a must for any welder's bench.  (The handle was my idea!)  I used by Lincoln Electric Precision TIG® 225 to weld it together.

I painted the Grasshopper "Lincoln Red."

I have the highest regard for the instructors at the Lincoln Welding School. The metallurgy and welding tricks ... I mean techniques ... I learned have significantly improved my welding abilities.

The above project images and descriptions have been published to show how individuals used their ingenuity for their own needs, convenience and enjoyment. Only limited details are available and the projects have NOT been engineered by the Lincoln Electric® Company. Therefore, when you use the ideas for projects of your own, you must develop your own details and plans and the safety and performance of your work is your responsibility.
