How I Did It - 1: Snowboard Bench
From: Nathan Stinnett of Friendsville, Tennessee
I recently purchased a Lincoln SP-175 Plus
wire feeder welder
and absolutely love it. I used the SP-175 Plus while attending the
NASCAR Technical Institute
and love how smooth and light these welders are. I have used various other welders and absolutely love the SP-175 Plus for its ease of use.
A friend of mine asked me to build a bench out of snowboards. I researched the project and could not believe the poor quality of some of the benches on the market. I assured my friend I would make a bench they could depend on for life and for much cheaper than those that are commercially available.
I made the first bench using only my SP-175 Plus, an angle finder and a chop saw. My friend was so pleased she had me make another one and now her neighbors want things made for them. I can't take credit for the idea of the bench but I think this is a cool piece of furniture. Maybe this project will get some younger people interesting in welding and using their creativity.
Thanks Lincoln for your excellent products.
How I Did It - 2: Fishing Boat Renovation
From: Ray Cox and Daryl Rodgers of Charleston, Oregon
|
The Chellissa fishing boat was rebuilt this past winter using Lincoln DC-600 multi-process power sources paired with LN-22 and LN-25 wire feeders. The materials used in the rebuild included mild steel, 304 stainless and 316 stainless.
We used the stick and self-shielded flux-cored welding processes and a variety of electrode types ? E6011, E7018, E7024, 308L, 309L, 316, and Innershield® NR-211-MP. We started the project in August and finished the following January.
The boat is primarily used in Alaska for catching Cod and Pollock and a short season of Hake fishing on the West Coast.
